GUILTY GEAR 2 -OVERTURE- MATERIAL COLLECTION ART BOOK SCANLATIONS.

This page is an archive of the translations I've done for the illustrations in the Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- Material Collection art book. The illustrations and original Japanese captions are by Daisuke Ishiwatari. Some of the illustrations were drawn for short stories within the artbook. I'm still in the process of translating those stories, but I'll include a link to the completed ones alongside it in its entry on this page.

I'm still adjusting the overall layout and design of this page, but it's at least functional for now. Sorry it's so ugly on mobile lol...

Sol, Ky, and Sin. Sol, Ky, and Sin.

New illustration used for the cover of the Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- Material Collection art book.		 The first layout was originally designed with only Sin and Ky, but the absence of the main character made the composition a bit too empty… so Sol was added. The strange poses of Sin and Ky are the result of my search for a composition that would look good in a single, combined, illustration.

Package illustration for Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- for the Xbox 360		 One way would have been to take the main characters and show them as a group, but that would have looked too messy, so the presented composition was chosen instead. I, personally, am not very good at group illustrations… and that is one of the reasons.

Cover Illustration for the overseas release of Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- on the Xbox 360.		 I thought it would be better to use acrylic gouache for the overseas version of the package art, but I decided it would have more cultural impact if I emphasized the Japanese touch instead by using markers. With this in mind, I used an inking style similar to that used in [western] comic books.

Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- Original Soundtrack Vol.2 package illustration.		 The jacket art for our albums are always illustrated with a motif of a woman dressed up as one of the characters from the game. This time, she is dressed as Valentine. “Don’t you think that’s too erotic?” and “I’m on the edge of my seat,” were a few of the comments I received, and I am reflecting on them with some regret.

Cover Illustration for the Guilty Gear 2 -Overture- Complete Guide.		 This illustration was created with an exaggerated camera-angle composition and a sense of cohesiveness as a single picture in mind. The highlight of this work is the denim-like decoration, which is intended to assert that “this is mine and mine alone” (laugh). I would like to further develop this kind of decoration in the future.
