Revision History ========================== 1. General Info / Controls ========================== ==== Info ==== Hello. My name is Omega Cosmo. After writing a Ky FAQ a while back, I got tired of GGX for a while. But now I'm back on the GGX scene and I am writing a Testament FAQ. (Duh) Yes, I'm aware that there already is one at GameFAQs, but I found it a bit too... information lacking. So here comes mine! So, who is Testament? Testament is DEATH! Well, kind of. Testament defends Dizzy and her grove. That, and the fact that he is from Switzerland makes me wonder if he really is death. (No offense to Switzerland!!!) How do you play Testament? Well, well... I'll admit it. I'm far from being a very good Testament player. The things I've picked up from playing him is the following: - Testament has range and several of his long-reaching attacks hits over his head, attacking jump-ins. - Testament does not have many moves, but instead of having many moves he has many uses for the ones he has. - Testament is pretty much balanced, having decent strength and speed. - Testament sucks in air. (Slow attacks and no air specials.) - Testaments overdrive is weak but is very comboable and gives a nifty poison to your foe! Let's head over to Testament's Pros and Cons. Pros: + Range. + Balanced stats. + Cool looks. (I think?) + Some of his attacks are hard to predict. + Has a good lot of pressuring moves. Cons: - Some slow attacks. - Only one overdrive. - Relatively big target. ======== Controls ======== f - forward d/f - tap down+forward b - back d/b - tap down+back u - up u/f - tap up+forward d - down u/b - tap up+back qcf - quarter circle forward (d,d/f,f) qcb - quarter circle back (d,d/b,b) hcf - half circle forward (b,d/b,d,d/f,f) hcb - half circle back (f,d/f,d,d/b,b) dp - dragon punch (f,d,d/f) OC = Omega Cosmo (ME!!!) Note: I'll be commenting some parts of the FAQ so... DC Layout: Y Slash S X B Punch Heavy Slash P HS A Kick K "Who the heck needs controls when there are toilets?" - Evil Shingo ====================== Terms Used In This FAQ ====================== Tension Gauge ============= The tension gauge is the cute gauge in the bottom left of your screen. (Or bottom right if you are player 2) When you see that the tension gauge is flashing red, you have 50% tension. When you have 50% tension, you can do a variety of things. (Such as overdrives and roman cancels, more on that later) You charge the meter as you walk around, hit your foe, get hit... and more. If you back away from your foe too much, you'll get a negative penalty and your gauge will be reset to 0. This might piss some people off, but if you are in a real fight, this seldom happens. Overdrive ========= Overdrives are this game's Desperation Moves or Super Combos. ( Depending on you are 'raised' with SNK or Capcom terms ;) ) Anyhow, these are extremely powerful attacks that very often separate the winner from the loser in this game. However, to perform them you need 50% tension. Faultless Defense ================= Holding backwards + P and K at the same time will create a green circle around your character. When this is activated, you will take NO DAMAGE AT ALL. In other words, you are completely frickin' invincible. However, this eats tension from your tension gauge like MAD, resulting in the fact that you must perform these when it's only as most necessery. Destroy Mode ============ Pressing XABY (Punch, Kick, Slash, Heavy Slash) at the same time will make your character do some sort of pose while red lights surround him/her. This indicates that you've entered the Destroy Mode. While in this mode, you can perform your characters Instant Kill move. The bad thing is however that it drains tension when you are in it, and when the tension gauge is empty, it will start to drain life instead. However, you CAN NOT DIE from it. So if you have only one shard of life left, you might aswell activate it and hope for the best, eh? :D Dust Attack / Launcher ====================== Pressing Slash + Heavy Slash at the same time will make your character perform an attack that launches your foe up in the air. Here, you can jump up and perform an air combo (dust combo) on him/her. When mastered, this technique can be very devestating. (Although some of the characters don't banefit from this, seeing as some are just plain worthless in air.) Recovery ======== When you are in air, falling hopelessly to your doom, there is something that you can do! Yes, press any 2 attack buttons at the same time and a light will flash around your character, and the word 'recovery' will appear on your side of the screen. When recovery is taken, you are back to normal in air and can dash around and slash freely again. However, you cannot recover at all times. For example, recovery doesn't work after being thrown away by Testaments grab move. Roman Cancel ============ This is a very interesting thing to do. Whenever you are performing an attack on your foe, press any 3 attack buttons at the same time to cancel it! After canceling, you can perform more moves and make VERY devestating combos indeed. However, this requires 50% tension. Also, Dizzy can't cancel special attacks. (Nyah, nyah Dizzy users!) "*Omega Cosmo gets run over by a train* DIVINE RETRIBUTION!" - Zepy =========== Random Note =========== Pardon me if I spell the word 'scythe' wrong at times. (My excuse: I am Swedish) ====================== 2. All About Testament ====================== === Bio === Height: 6'1 (Around 185 cm) Weight: 161 lbs. (Around 80 kg) Blood type: Analysis Failed Eye color: Red Birthday: May 9 Birthplace: Switzerland Hobbies: Thinking Likes: Kliff Undersn, potatoes Dislikes: Sol, Saitou-style martial arts ======= Profile ======= A gentle-hearted and charitable man, willing to sacrifice everything to help others. He especially likes children, and has taken in several orphans in the past. To him, a criminal should not be punished for his crime, but forced to reassess his evil ways instead. His curiosity knows no bounds, but his hatred of violence borders on phobia. ===== Story ===== Testament was involved in a conspiracy and converted to a Gear irrespective of his intention. Bearing strong willpower, he managed to maintain his consciousness and memory but was forced to conform with the command of "mankind erasure" which was implanted compulsorily, and as such, he turned his fang to mankind. With the death of Justice in the previous Tournament, Testament recovered his original character but was tortured by the depth of his sins and felt despaired to live on his life as a human being. He wandered around in despair, until one day he got lost in the woods and stumbled upon a place the people called "the devil's living place." It was there that Testament met Dizzy. After hearing the narrative of her life, her existence became his reason to live. The only thing he could do is protect her from enemies. Not for the destruction of his opponents but rather "to protect his precious one," Testament holds his scythe once again... =============== Random Thoughts =============== "I am a random soccer-playing penguin!" - Penguin 'I have serious doubts that 'Death' would come from Switzerland :D' 'It confuses me how some people thinks that he's a girl. Yes, he has a skirt. BUT WHAT THE HELL! Just take a closer look! And if that doesn't tip you off, there's something called V-O-I-C-E.' 'I hate the fact that his schyte is red. IT SHOULD BE BLACK DAMMIT!!!' =========== Stage Theme =========== Bloodstained Lineage. I'd give this song a 7/10. I really like the 'hard' beginning, but it gets too repeative for my taste later. (Although it has that kind of darkness that really fits Testament) Rumor has it that the composer had severe troubles finding a drummer for this song due to the extreme speed it reaches at times. Check out Kenshi's review of it: 17. Bloodstained Lineage: Testament Stage OST (Length: 4:56) Rating: 9/10 AST (Length: 5:04) Rating: 9/10 It starts off slow, but gives a sense of doom and fear as the high notes from the guitar gives an almost "psycho" feel to the tune. It is the fastest track by far, and the drums move frantically to keep up. Apparently, they had trouble finding a drummer who could keep up with the pace for so long. Anyhow, it is a very fast and intense tune, with almost too much going on. Although it sounds pretty messy it matches the fast pace of the battle as you try to overpower the mighty Testament. The AST actually sounds cooler, similar to a heavy duty guitar session. Aside from that it can be pretty difficult to tell the difference at certain sections between OST and AST. =================== Unlocking Testament =================== There are three ways to unlock Testament. - Beat him in Arcade mode. (He is the next-last foe, before Dizzy.) - Beat him in Survival mode. (Reach level 20 and beat him when he challenges you.) - Through a code. Press the following when you are at the title screen: u,u,d,l,Start. (You must enter the code again everytime you play.) =============== GG Mode Changes =============== - Raven Skull (qcf + P or K) executes much quicker. ============================ Testaments 'Ending' Thoughts ============================ Seeing as the endings in this game is consisted of one single picture, I'll give you my views of what happens after the game for Testament. (This is only and solely what I think, of course) Wasn't that sweet? I should write a book :D. ================== 3. However, the following are believed to be the right ones. Having already written the FAQ using the above move list, I'll use those names instead. But here follows, the actual names of Testaments moves.] =Throws= Demon Proof (when close) b or f + HS Violent qcb + S =Special Attacks= Phantom Soul qcf + P or K Grave Digger qcb + P Exe Beast Alpha hcf + S Exe Beast Omega hcf + HS =Overdrive= Nightmare Circular hcb,f + HS =Instant Kill= Sevens Sign qcf,qcf + HS ===================== 4. Detailed Move List ===================== ========================= Normal Attacks / Commands ========================= Standing Punch - Slap Hand ========================== Down and simple, a swift punch. You can make up to 5 hits with it, standing close and continously using it. Overall, a nice poke. Standing Kick - Back Kick ========================= Testament extends one of his legs to hit the enemy in his/her chest area. Functions like the standing punch, althougn slower. On the other hand, it's stronger and has better range. Standing Slash Far - Sickle Razor ================================= Testament releases his schyte and lets it spin for hits. It can hit up to 6 hits if you are close enough. Great in combos. Standing Slash Close - Sickle Down ================================== Testament does a standing pose and his schyte spins around once. A fast hit that can be comboed after. Standing Heavy Slash - Sickle Spin Strike ========================================= Testament crouches and he takes his schyte for a spin yet again. The closer you are, the more hits. Can be used to fend off jump-ins. Crouching Punch - Quick Slap ============================ Pretty much the same motion as the standing punch, although crouching. Use it in the same manner. It's just as fast. Crouching Kick - Kick Out ========================= One of the weirder moves in the game IMHO. Testament just extends one of his leg a LITTLE bit. Worthless range and damage. I just realized that I never use it :D. Crouching Slash - Slash Across ============================== A fluent slash. Good range and has a small possability to hit jump-ins. Crouching Heavy Slash - Sickle Sweep ==================================== Testament swings his schyte, knocking his foe down. Good range and nice damage. Comes out fast too. Jumping Punch - Slap Down ========================= Cute punch hitting in a downwards angle. Very useful in aerial combos. Jumping Kick - Side Kick ======================== A bit slower, although a bit longer range and better damage than the jumping punch. Useful in some parts of the aerial combos. Jumping Slash - Sickle Whip =========================== A swift slash, good move VS air. Doesn't hit in a downwards angle though. Jumping Heavy Slash - Orbital Sickle ==================================== A good move. Testament slashes and those purple effects appear in the schytes 'road'. Hits in a downwards angle. Nice range and damage. Slash + Heavy Slash - Dust Attack / Launcher ============================================ Testament leans back and a few hands made of blood (?) sticks up and hits the enemy, allowing you to jump after and perform an aerial combo. There are slower launchers, and there are stronger. But at least it puts Testament out of danger a bit since he leans back. Slash + Heavy Slash While Crouching - Sweep =========================================== Testament extends one of his legs and knocks his foe of his/her feet. Use this after a crouching Heavy Slash for best damage results. Forward + Punch - Pose Strike ============================= Weird move which has Testament crouch down with his back towards the screen. (Looks like he says hello to someone) This hits low. Use it directly after a standing kick for a direct hit. Forward + Heavy Slash - Big Sickle Down ======================================= Probably Testaments best normal move. Comes out fast, has good range, has good damage... you name it. Also hits enemies in air. (GREAT ATTACK VS JUMP-INS!!!) However, this attack won't hit if you are too close to your foe. (Since Testament will swing it 'beyond' the opponent) Comments: ========= Testament has range. Use that to your avail. Although some of his attacks come out slow, most comes out fast. Testament has several great attacks VS jump-ins. Testament is NOT good in air. The only move you should use in air is the Heavy Slash. (Except in aerial combos of course) ========================== Special Attacks / Commands ========================== "Just f**k it man!" - Barb Welcome to the special attacks section. Finally :D. This is were all of Testament's special moves will be explained thoroughly. The layout is like so: Move Name - Motion ================== Damage: Min / Max Damage RC: Is this move roman cancelable? Yes / No. Description ..................................................................... ..................................................................... ========================== Let's get it on, shall we? Throws: ======= Demon Proof - (when close) b or f + HS ====================================== Damage: 56 / 84 RC: N/A Testament grabs his foe and seemingly steals power from him. (?) After stealing the power, Testament gives off the ugliest smile ever. (Well, one of the ugliest) Then he throws him in the reverse direction. A very damaging throw. Other Notes: - You can punish your enemy after the throw, with a F + HS for example. Demonic Poison Counter - qcb + S ================================ Damage: 10 / 15 RC: Yes Testament taunts. If Testament is hit during the taunt, he'll teleport underground and appear behind his foe, hitting him. Look at the damage, doesn't it look worthless? Weeeeeeeelllllll, your foe gets POISON! This means that your foe will go around with purple flashing around him (annoying) while being damaged all the time. However... - If you get hit, your foes poison disappears. (wtf?) - Your enemy CAN NOT DIE of poison. I repeat: Your enemy CAN NOT DIE of poison. By the way, this counter is simply amazing. It counters normal attacks, (low, medium, high) projectiles and even overdrives! Nothing beats performing a counter when facing Baikens 3-slash overdrive, only to have her get poisoned. Heck, I almost think it's a bit cheap! Ah well, your foe will have to be happy with the fact that it's blockable... Also, turns out this move is hard to time correctly. You must be hit around the middle of the taunt for this counter to actually activate. So don't go around and say 'Hah! I've mastered Testament's counter! You are dead!' only to fail the timing and have a 20-hits combo unleashed on you ;). As many other of Testament's tricks, this move requires practice. Practice makes perfect, eh? Other Notes: - Does Testament have a small invincability frame in the beginning of this move? Special Attacks =============== Raven Skull - qcf + P or K ========================== Damage: 13 / 19 RC: No Testament throws out a skull. (If you use the Punch version, it will travel forward. If you use the Kick version, it will travel forward IN AIR.) When your foe gets hit, Testaments crow will hit him/her once. Afterwards, your foe will have a cute red/pink circle rolling around on him/her, signifying that the 'Raven Attacks' are active. During this time, Testaments crow will attack your foe a random number of times using three different attacks. (Which are, again, randomly chosen) However: - If you get hit, the attacks will end instantly. - BEWARE OF THE LAG WHEN TESTAMENT THROWS OUT THE SKULL! These are the attacks that Zio, Testaments crow, uses: - A bite attack. (Fast and good damage, performed up to 6 times) - Shooting feathers. (Can hit up to 3 times. The damage is low, but can be used to continue combos. Performed up to 5 times) - Zio turns into it's female form and slices Testaments foe once. (Very good damage, but comes out slow. Performed up to 4 times) Other Notes: - A great pressure move. Throw out skulls at random times to keep your foe insecure. Lunge Sickle - qcb + P ====================== Damage: 52 / 78 RC: Yes Testament jumps forward (fast!) and damages his foe with a fast and deadly slash. This move is NOT TO BE THROWN OUT RANDOMLY. It's not fast enough for your foe to be knocked off-guard. This is a very tactical move, your foe will MOST PROBABLY block it if you just throw it out randomly. (It's not hard to notice when it's coming!) So instead, use it when your foe fails with doing an attack or if you get a very clear shot. Other than that, use it only in combos. Other Notes: - Testaments slash reaches just about half-screen. Exe Beast Alpha - hcf + S ========================= Damage: 34 / 52 RC: No This move can be amazingly tricky. (Some people even keeps on jumping, just to avoid it!) Anyhow, Testament says 'Exe beastu!' in a very dark and low tone and a beast will appear behind your enemy, splashing forth and damage him/her. If your enemy is in corner, it's instant damage. Since it comes from the back, it cannot be blocked. The only way to avoid it is to jump over it. This is also kind of a tactical move, which can be thrown out randomly without any larger risk of you getting hit. However, due to it's instant damage in the corner... it tends to piss people off. But hey, it's Testaments only real effective offensive move! Exe Beast Omega - hcf + HS ========================== Damage: 34 / 52 RC: No This is plainly the same move as Exe Beast Alpha, with the exception that the beast now appears in front of Testament and starts travelling towards your foe. It hits low, of course. It can be blocked and is not as tricky as the Alpha version. However, when used in conjunction, you can create some evil mind-games. Overdrive ========= Devils Blessing - hcb,f + HS ============================ Damage: 52 / 78 [Requires half the Tension/Power Gauge/Meter] RC: No Testaments overdrive has him open some kind of portal, sending a huge spirit towards his foe. This overdrive is FAST, and is not easy to block unless you are prepared for it. (Which people tend to be, sadly...) This overdrive is comboable. A simple Slash > Devils Blessing is just an example in how to get it to hit easily. The damage might not be so good, why? WELL! POISON DAMAGE! (TM) And we all know what applies when it's time for poison damage... It means that your foe will go around with purple flashing around him (annoying) while being damaged all the time. However... - If you get hit, your foes poison disappears. (wtf?) - Your enemy CAN NOT DIE of poison. I repeat: Your enemy CAN NOT DIE of poison. I also think that the poison of this move lasts longer than the poison that your foe receives from the Demonic Poison Counter move. Other Notes: - Yes, he does say 'Nightmare Circular' when he performs this move. Check the 'Quick Move List' section for more info. Instant Kill ============ Demon Assist - qcf,qcf + HS =========================== Damage: DEATH (That might be why they call it 'Instant Kill' :D) [You must be in Destroy Mode to perform this move] RC: N/A As all instant kills, the more range... the better. Why? BECAUSE IT'S INSTANT DEATH!!! In any case, this move desires that your foe must be DIRECTLY BESIDE you. (Well, it does have a VERY LITTLE BIT better range than Zato's instant kill, which MUST be done directly beside your foe, you get the picture.) After hitting your foe, it's time for some scary movie cliché... yes! THE DEATH ON THE BED!!! Your foe lies on a bed while Zio (the crow) in human form slashes a hole through him/her, blood streaming out as if your foe was a fountain. And then, DEATH! It's cruel, yeah... but oh-so-pleasing. Now, if it only had better range... Other Notes: - For understandable reasons, this move is also called 'Sevens Sign' or 'The Seventh Sign'. (Ichigeki Hissatsu) ========= 5. Combos ========= ============= Ground Combos ============= The combos that are used solely on ground, duh. The combos are graded in three difficulties; Beginner, Advanced and Expert. 1. P > P > P > P > P = 5 Hits Difficulty: Beginner < A little 'training' combo. Gives you a swift 5 hits. This can also be done using the crouching Punch. 2. P > P > P > P > P > K = 6 Hits Difficulty: Beginner < COOL! Throw in a kick at the end and receive 6 hits instead! This is just to demonstrate how to mix Punches with Kicks. You could throw in the Kick earlier if you want. (Perhaps you aren't close enough to your foe to get all hits?) 3. P > K > S > HS = 5/6 Hits Difficulty: Beginner < This is the usual combo that all characters have. It's a fast little combo showing all the standing moves of the character. There is always a possability of throwing in something more at the end... (If you don't throw in anything more, the Heavy Slash will hit trice instead of twice!) 4. P > K > S > HS > Lunge Sickle = 6 Hits Difficulty: Advanced < ...like here. Letting the Heavy Slash hit twice are crucial if you want all 6 hits, or else it will result in 5. Notice how we use a special move at the end. 5. P > K > S > HS > Exe Beast Alpha/Omega = 6 Hits Difficulty: Advanced < Another example of the above combo. Here, you throw in an Exe Beast instead of the Lunge Sickle. It's a good alternative if you want to keep the distance. Exe Beast version used is up to you, depending on where you and your foe stand. 6. P > K > S > HS > Devils Blessing = 6 Hits Difficulty: Advanced < This is Testaments most common overdrive combo. Changing the Lunge Sickle for a Devils Blessing grants even more damage aswell as poison to your foe. 7. K > Crouching HS > Lunge Sickle = 3 Hits Difficulty: Advanced < A good example of a knock-down combo. Immeaditely after the Kick, crouch and do a Heavy Slash to make your foe fall over. When your enemy is falling, simply unleash the Lunge Sickle. Easy, yet damaging. Mastering the art of knock-down combos is vital if you want to perform those long and flashy combos. (Not only with Testament, of course) 8. P > K > S > Crouching HS > Devils Blessing = 5 Hits Difficulty: Advanced + < Ok, just because I call this combo an 'Advanced +' combo doesn't mean that you are THE MAN if you can perform it. The reason is that if you can perform this, you've mastered the engine and are ready to compose combos of your own. (Excluding combos including the faultless defense glitch and roman cancels!) In any case, doing the P > K > S is as usual very easy, and then comes the 'semi-tricky' part. Make your opponent fall by performing the crouching Heavy Slash, and then quickly do the hcb,f + HS that is necessery to unleash the Devils Blessing. The damage this combo does is very good, and it looks kind of flashy. So if you manage to do this, congratulations, you've learned Testaments basics. Now go down to combo #11 for a final lesson. 9. Raven Skull (Punch) > Lunge Sickle = 2 Hits Difficulty: Beginner < The point of this move is to do a Lunge Sickle when the Raven Skull hits. This way, you'll get 2 hits and loads of more damage. After the Lunge Sickle, you can do a Heavy Slash. (Or something else!) And no, not many people fall for this combo. 10. Raven Skull (Kick) > Demon Proof (Throw) = 2 Hits Difficulty: Advanced < Ok, this combo is just plain stupid. Let me explain. First, throw out a Raven Skull (Kick version), then jump to the other side of your enemy and QUICKLY grab him. If you are fast enough, Testament will grab your foe and then throw him on the skull. Congratulations if you manage to pull this off, as you need a complete numbskull to fall for it. (Note: If you actually manage to pull it off, don't forget to throw in a Lunge Sickle when the skull hits, eh? ;D) 11. P > K > S > HS > Exe Beast Omega > Lunge Sickle > Roman Cancel >Devils Blessing = 8 Hits Difficulty: Expert < Here it comes, the real thing. If you can perform this, you will be ready for anything. (Except maybe EVEN LONGER combo chains, chains that you will have to find for yourself!) Ok, here follows the explanation. First, do the usual P > K > S > HS chain. (Letting the HS hit twice) Quickly after doing the HS, perform the Exe Beast Omega. Immeaditely after the Exe Beast hits, perform a Lunge Sickle. (Here comes the tricky part:) INSTANTLY after the Lunge Sickle hits, perform the roman cancel and let your fingers run through hcb,f + HS and the Devils Blessing will connect aswell! This combo can damage more than half of your foe's lifebar. If you manage to pull this off, congratulations, you are the man. Upon succeeding with this, you can now use roman cancels in combos. I guess that settles it then! Now go and kick some butt! ========== Air Combos ========== The combos that are used after launching your foe and jumping up to him. 1. P > P > Repeat = ? Hits < This all depends on your launcher timing and similar. Just jump up and mash Punch! This is the beginners aerial combo of course. 2. P > K/S > Repeat = ? Hits < Again, it's all about timing. Try mixing Punches, Kicks and Slashes to see what it leads to! 3. P > P > S > HS = 4 Hits (+ Launcher) < This is the air combo that I tend to use. (I use air combos VERY SELDOM with Testament since he FREAKIN' SUCKS IN AIR! DAMN!!!) Anyway, this is a good amount of hits which let you do decent damage. (Since the amount of damage is decreased after every hit.) ===================== 6. Various Strategies ===================== What you have to do when you are in some particular situations! =============================================================== I'M BEING HIT AND FLYING AND CAN'T GET OUT OF THE ENEMY'S GRIP! =============================================================== Press X and Y simultaneously and hope for recovery! ======================================================= I HAVE ALMOST NO LIFE LEFT AND THE ENEMY HAS FULL LIFE! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? ======================================================= Quickly press XABY and enter Instant Kill mode, perform the Demon Assist and hope for the best! (Ehh... damn that's lame.) ================================================================ HAHA! THE ENEMY IS AWAY! HOW CAN I GET HIM DOWN EASILY FROM NOW? ================================================================ Throw out both Raven Skulls, Exe Beasts and OWN HIM! Use Forward + Heavy Slash if he jump in on you! ====================== THE ENEMY IS GROUNDED! ====================== Do a Forward Heavy Slash or if you have a half Tension Gauge, use the P > K > S > HS > Devils Blessing combo on him/her! (Just an example.) ============================ THE ENEMY IS GETTING CLOSER! ============================ Poke him with Standing moves and/or send out Exe Beasts on him/her! (Or if you are really desperate, use a Lunge Sickle.) ================ TESTAMENT ROCKS! ================ Ehem.. of course he does. ==================================================== I CAN'T FIND TESTAMENT ON THE CHARACTER SELECT MENU! ==================================================== TRY UNLOCKING HIM, DOOFUS! (Read beginning of FAQ for information on that.) ================================================ THE ENEMY IS DIZZY! (NOT THE CHARACTER, STUPID!) ================================================ Launch him and do an air combo or if you have a half Tension Gauge, use Devils Blessing (preferably in combos) on him/her! ======================================== I AM DIZZY! (NOT THE CHARACTER, STUPID!) ======================================== Press all buttons frequently and try to escape it! That's all you can do! =========== 7. VS Guide =========== The guide which you should use if you have troubles facing a certain character! This guide works both VS CPU and VS another player. Although the strategies are not 100 % reliable, they should be able to aid a bit. The strategies are mostly CPU biased though. ======= VS Anji ======= Codename: "Gay". (Explanation: It's the looks) You should watch out for his air grab, as he tends to use it when you dash through the air. Anji likes to combo into his overdrive, so be cautious. Other than that, stand clear of the "ferocious" projectile of his since it turns into an overhead if you block it. (Giving him instant combo possabilities) More info regarding Anji, contributed by Shiva Nataraja: Anji is more dangerous than you can say. His normal attacks and numerous command attacks have a autoguard frame, meaning that he can go into his autoguard Dragon Punch. Autoguard Dragon Punch: Press P when you see the autoguard activated. Trust me, it is not pretty. Just watch out for his super, it is more powerful than Guile's Sonic Hurricane. Conclusion: - Anji is Codename: "Gay". - Anji tends to use his air grab when you dash through the air. - Anji likes to combo into his overdrive. Be cautious. - Anji's projectile is more dangerous than it looks. ====== VS Axl ====== AXUL BOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! This guy has strength and range, and also a busload of funny voice samples. But what attacks should you watch out for? His charge move (where he shoots out his schyte in a green light) can be quite annoying, especially with that follow-up. In close, he uses the move which he can continue into Axl Bomber alot. His Overdrive is strong if your close to him, but does almost no damage if your far away and he decides to use it as a projectile. He also has a counter attack which he seldom executes. (Note: AXL'S COUNTER OWNS!!! ESPECIALLY IF YOU KNOW YOUR OPPONENTS PATTERN!!! / Evil Shingo, local Axl freak) On top of that, a move where he comes falling from the sky, it doesn't travel that far however, so no problems. Always rememeber that his Instant Kill hits LOW! Conclusion: - AXUL BOMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! - Axl has some moves that you should watch out for. - Axl's Overdrive doesn't hurt that much on range. - Axl' Instant Kill hits LOW! ========= VS Baiken ========= The one-armed girl has quite a decent amount of moves to put up for herself. Although she only has a few offensive ones, her counters is a pain. (Especially when fighting a human player which plays a good Baiken) She has that move where she flings up a plank which comes from nowhere (?!) and her aerial "spin" when it comes to offensive moves. Also, her offensive Overdrive (the one where she slashes three times and three kanjis appear) can be quite irritating. Her counter Overdrives has the power to wreck the fight for you, so be wary. In air, always be on the look-out for her "spin" move. Conclusion: - Baiken is strong and deadly. - Baiken has some offensive moves which you'd do best in standing clear of. - Be wary of Baiken's counters, they are a real pain! (To reflect these, playing a good projectile game might be a nice idea) - In air, be wary of Baiken's "spin" move. ======== VS Chipp ======== Ninja boy is damn fast and has a variety of attacks, however, he is as you probably know, that very strong or durable at all. He has teleports, sure. Uppercut, sure. Much other attacks, sure. But Chipp reamains one of those characters with a wide variety of moves but lacking particulary useful ones. The things you need to look out for are his combos. If he gets in close, his speed can do remarkable things. Conclusion: - Chipp is very fast. - Chipp is not very strong. - Chipp has many moves, but not any particulary useful ones. - Chipp's fast combos can take you by surprise. ======== VS Dizzy ======== How I hate her. Yes, I really hate her. When player controlled, she is too weak and too boring for my taste. It's all about throwing out random ice projectiles. When CPU controlled, she is a BITCH. She is stronger than Potemkin, faster than Sol...blah. Her Tension Gauge fills up faster than...something really fast. Why is it that all damn final bosses must be so frickin' over-powered? Anyhow, what you need to do is one of the four following: 1. Jump-in > Combo > Jump away. 2. Throw out Devils Blessing combos or perhaps even the instant kill. 3. Keep her away by using Exe Beasts and Raven Skulls. 4. All of the above. You get the drill? This is really all the advice I can give. And yeah, watch out for the Overdrive in which she summons a purple hole, drags you in, and makes one of her helpers shoot you with energy arrows. It's PAIN. Conclusion: - Dizzy is boring and too weak when player controlled. - Dizzy is too fast and too cheap when CPU controlled. BITCH! - All of Dizzy's attacks are damaging and has too high priority. - You better hope that God's on your side when you face Dizzy on Very Hard. ======== VS Faust ======== The riot of GGX. This tall guy is not only funny, but also damn funny :D. Anyhow, what does he have to attack with? He throws out stuff and he teleports alot. So what is the key to victor? Be defensive. If you block his teleports, you can punish him like crazy. The stuff he throws out isn't that dangerous. Always remember that his "Roulette" Overdrive hits low. Conclusion: - Faust is damn funny :D. - Faust teleports alot. - Be defensive while facing Faust, especially on high levels. - Faust's "Roulette" Overdrive hits low. ====== VS Jam ====== "Jam....SOOOOOOOOOO HOT.......GONNNNA PULL HER PANTIES OFF!! WOOOOOOOO!!!! *Does the Ric Flair strut*" - Daigo Oooo, Jam ^.^. I love this girl :D. Anyhow, her arsenal of moves are mostly about kicks. She has a anti-air kick, a high-angle one, one that simply floats forward, etc... What I do when facing her is being offensive alot, so she doesn't get the chance to surprise me with her attacks. Also, punish her when she does her charge motion, because it lags, and we dun want special kicks over us now do we? :P Conclusion: - Jam has a wide variety of kicks to her disposal, so watch out! - Punish Jam when she charges up her moves. - Be wary of Jam's irritating and fast Overdrives, not to mention Jam's Instant Kill, which comes out in a very surprising way. ========= VS Johnny ========= Another one of my favorite characters. Johnny has the Mist Refiner (watch out for the air version) and he throws out coins at random times. But since he can run out of them, it's no biggie. Just be wary of the Mist Refiner, and punish him when you have the chance to. Johnny's Instant Kill travels FULL SCREEN. NEVER forget that! Conclusion: - Be wary of Johnny's Mist Refiner. - Johnny throws out coins at random times. No biggie though, since he eventually runs out of 'em. - The card Johnny throws during his Instant Kill travels full screen. ===== VS Ky ===== Ky, the ultra faggot :D. Being this games Ryu, he has a 'wide variety' of projectiles (2!!!) and of course the casual anti-air. Besides this, he has one decent defense move (Cresent Slash) and a fast slash that hits low. (Stun Dipper) Block and try to endure. Exe Beast Alpha is a recommended move since it takes Ky from the behind (?) when he's trying to perform his damned projectiles. Use Lunge Sickles when Ky feels like throwing out random Cresent Slashes and Stun Dippers. Conclusion: - Ky has annoying gameplay. - Counter Kys' moves by having patience. - Watch out for Kys' Ride The Lightning in combos. Recover whenever you can... - His Instant Kill has range. Remember that. ====== VS May ====== Another one of my not so favorite characters. She is irritating. Using her goddamn dolphins in an almost ... abusing way. She also has strong Overdrives, and surprise moves a plenty. And there's nothing worse than losing to those cute voiced bitches, right?!! Oh, anyhow. Be defensive against her, she tends to launch you by riding her dolphins. Get her when she attempts to recover after those moves... Conclusion: - You don't want to lose to May. She's cute, your cool. Remember! - May's overdrives are strong and comes out fast. Especially the Great Yamada Attack. - May abuses dolphins. (REPORT!!!) ========= VS Millia ========= "The thing about the hair... Millia's a master in hairfighting...does she control ALL her hair? Ever wondered does she have any hidden 'bush-attacks' ala La Blue Girl? (Maybe that's how Zato lost his eyesight?)" - Shikyoh I always say that Millia is one of the best characters in the game. I never play with her, (too much hair for my taste :D) but I can really 'feel' that she is strong and has priority. Also, she's goddamn cheap. She has a majority of moves that will kill you off fast, so keep away! And yeah, you must block her Instant Kill LOW! Conclusion: - Millia needs a barber. Now. - Millia's Instant Kill must be blocked low. - Millia is fast and strong, but not terribly fun to play as. (IMO!) - Millia's probably the best character in the game when used by an expert... =========== VS Potemkin =========== Potemkin is slow. Potemkin is strong. Potemkin kills Chipp with four f + HS 's. (It's TRUE!!!) Anyhow, he should pose no real threat if you play a keep away game. However, if you decide to jump in close, be: 1. Wary of his anti-air attacks. (His air Overdrive and the one where he stretches his hand and pumps you with bullets) 2. Ready on getting punishment. If he blocks your assault, he will in 4/5 cases Potemkin Buster you. I guess that's it...? Conclusion: - Potemkin is slow. - Potemkin is strong. - Watch out for his anti-airs, and his bad habit of Potemkin Bustering you when he blocks... ====== VS Sol ====== Sol is also one of the stronger characters in the game. Being strong and also quite fast is dangerous. He is horribly offensive, and gains levels life flies on you know what in Survival. I hate facing him. Block often, and punish him when he leaves himself open. It will be a tough fight at higher levels. In a fight between a professional Ky player and professional Sol player, Ky is dead before the fight starts. (Just a note!) Conclusion: - Sol is almost overpowered! (IMO!) - Sol has a variety of offensive moves. - Sol is the best character in Survival mode. ============ VS Testament ============ Facing yourself, eh? Testament has good range (as stated), although he could use a few more moves... He's never in air. Why? He sucks in air. Sure, he has range and alike, but no moves to use in air. The AI mostly stands on ground doing the Exe Beast all day long. Stick to the air, and you should get him down quite easily. Conclusion: - Testament is worthless in air. - Testament seems to have issues regarding what gender he is... (?!) - Testament has range. ======== VS Venom ======== Pole freak :D. Many of my mates play him, so I know how to get him down quite easily. It's hard to explain, but somehow, it's easy to know what Venom will do next... Venom is a quite fast and strong character, and he has an air Overdrive that can take you by surprise. As long as you keep your eyes open, he's no real threat. Oh, his Eye Of Osiris Overdrive goes full screen. Conclusion: - Venom has balanced stats. - Venoms air Overdrive can take you by surprise. - Venoms Eye Of Osiris Overdrive goes full screen. ======= VS Zato ======= And finally, we have the master of the shadows. People always tell me that he is damn cheap, and I disagree. Sure, he has some cheap moves and an horribly cheap anti-air. (F + HS) But, he is an character that needs to be learned. Zato can be horribly cheap, but so can other characters. Anyhow, watch out for his little assist dude, which can cause you some surprising damage at times. In air, watch out for his air Overdrive of course. When jumping in, watch out for his f + HS move, or you'll curse yourself. And finally, pay respects to Zato since his Voice Actor is dead ;.;. This man, Shiozawa Kaneto, who also did the voice for Hyo from Project Justice, made impressive voice bits indeed. Anyhow, show respect to those people that put their souls into stuff like this! Conclusion: - Zato has some cheap tactics, but so does other characters... - Be wary of Zatos little assist dude, as he tends to surprise... - Zatos air Overdrive is not nice to get hit by. - Zatos Voice Actor is dead, pay respects accordingly ;.;. (Rest in peace, Shiozawa Kaneto) ============= 8. Quote List ============= All the quotes which Testament has to his disposal!
