An archive of all of the Guilty Gear guides that were posted on GameFAQs, from 1998 to 2015. These files are derived from /u/prograc's Gamespot TXT GameFAQs archive.

This page works on mobile devices but, as with the rest of my site, you're missing out on features the desktop version has (because I hate smart phones).

The NAVIGATION button skips down to the list of games included in this archive. SITEMAP takes you back to the top (here) where links to other places on my website are. CLEAR removes the document currently loaded into the VIEWER pane.

No guides on this page (except the one I wrote) have been edited in any way, unless it was to restore glyph corruption using an intact file. They are presented in their original form as they were shared on GameFAQs. Some guides still contain corrupted (illegible) glyphs. Some of them contain slurs, other insensitive language, inaccurate lore claims, or generally incorrect gameplay information. I chose to archive these to preserve a piece of the rapidly fading western Guilty Gear community's online presence. Take their advice with a grain of salt and seek more reliable sources for lore or gameplay claims.

Files are saved as their original .TXT document format and will display in the default colors for that filetype for your web browser (usually white on black text). Files will open in an iframe on the right but can also be downloaded. I apologize for the lack of screenreader or mobile support for this page. The archaic file format and strong use of decorative ASCII glyphs makes sharing these a pain in the ass.

Given usernames were used before what seems to be the author's legal name in most places. Handles as part of email addresses were not used.

Leave a message in my guestbook if you find an error/bug. There are ~123 of these and I had to edit each one by hand. It would be a miracle if I didn't fuck up at least once somewhere.

Really cool glimpse at super early English-language impressions of Guilty Gear. The publishing date for this guide is earlier than both the NA and EU releases of the game (31 Oct. '98 and May 2000 respectively), meaning this guide was based on—and translated from—the Japanese version of the game. A lot of terms never seen in English spaces had to be localized by the translator, giving us "One-hit Certain Kill" for Instant Kills, "Dast" (Dust), "Tyrant Wave" (Tyrant Rave), etc. Also uses number notation (!!). One of my favorite FAQs in this archive.

Relatively standard general moveset guide. Green included romaji for the moves and their official names (if they had one) or unofficial translated names if there wasn't an official one yet, such as for Testament's moves. Uses numpad notation. Testament's section has an interesting bit about how their gender was vague and that it's possible they were "two spirits in one body," with the white "spirit" (Succubus) being the "female" half. Under this is an edit stating that ASW said "he's a he." Testament uses they/them pronouns since GG Strive, but these old gender discussions are always fascinating to read. This guide was ultimately left unfinished.

Really interesting FAQ to flip through considering what we now know about Guilty Gear. Big fan of the questions "Is Venom gay?" and "Are Sol and Ky gay?" This FAQ is cited and written by the biggest fan translator at the time, Ed Chang, so it's as accurate as it could be back then. That said, be mindful that a few things in here have since been overwritten by recent lore and to not take this too seriously. It's a fun read though.
